Car modification culture in India has come a long way. Modification now in India is more than just adding cosmetic bits to your car. There are many garages who specialise in performance mods. Engine swap, remap and other modification to improve the performance are now common than before. On our website, we have featured several tastefully modified cars. Some of them are just simply modified on the outside while others gets performance mods too. Here we have one such video of a Suzuki Zen Carbon which has been modified with a G16B engine from a Baleno sedan.

The video has been uploaded by The Drivers Hub on their YouTube channel. In this video, the YouTuber introduces to a Zen Carbon which is a very rare car to find on Indian roads. Suzuki had introduced a Carbon and Steel 3-door version of Zen in limited numbers. The Zen seen here is a Carbon but, the owner of this small hatchback changed the original colour on it. It now gets a shade inspired from Porsche’s Ultraviolet. Other than this, the car does not get any modifications on the outside.

It still gets the stock 13 inch alloy wheels and the interior gets body coloured inserts on the dashboard. Everything else about the car looks stock. Under the hood, things are different. The 1.0 litre petrol engine which was offered with the Zen was replaced by its owner. The owner opted for a 1.6 G16B engine from Baleno sedan which was once offered in India. This is not the first Zen which gets this type of modification but, this one just looks very neat. There are no signs of any type of modification yet it is way better than regular Zen.

This is one of the easiest engine swaps available for Zen in India. This is one of the reason why there are many Zen hatchbacks and Gypsy with G16B engine. The engine swap completely changes the character of the car. The Zen is now way more faster and it easily generates around 100 Bhp. The lightweight body and a powerful engine makes Zen a fun to drive car. The YouTuber also mentions that the brakes on this Zen are not stock. The owner replaced them with units from an Esteem. This is a project car and the work on this car is probably not finished yet.

The owner has installed strut bars, equal length headers and a K&N intake. In this video, YouTuber takes the car out for a spin and was very surprised by its performance. He mentions that the brakes on this car are not in the best condition so he is very careful with the car. The roads are also wet which again is a challenge. As brakes were not the best, the car was going sideways under heavy braking. This type of modification can be done on the 4-door Zen as well. Maruti Zen can be found in the used car market for cheap and the overall cost of this project including the car would be somewhere between Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2 lakh.
