Swedish EV brand Polestar is set to launch a rather interesting spin on its highly beloved Polestar 2 iteration, a concept of which was last shown off in style amid 2021's Goodwood Festival of Speed, aptly titled the "Beast" EV. While it's not quite the same ride, the Polestar 2 BST edition 270 will certainly suffice, fitted with some high-quality enhancements to set it apart from its predecessors, as well as give Polestar an additional throughline into its electric performance car denotation.

Announced via a company blog post on Tuesday, June 2nd, the BST edition 270 will feature 21-inch wheels designed with custom Pirelli P Zero tires, "unique" two-way adjustable Öhlins dampers, a front strut bar, 20% stiffer springs, and even a far lower suspension at about -25mm to add to its incredible speed performance. With dual motors that can hit a high of 476 horsepower (HP), a whopping 69HP bump from its 408HP predecessor, alongside 680 Nm of torque and the newly modified 78 kWh battery, the BST edition 270 takes home its concept's namesake without contention.

Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath explains why the company decided to move the concept into full production amid the post, "We had a great reaction to the specially modified Polestar 2 we showed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2021 and the response made it clear - we should create a version like that for production."

As opposed to the Beast concept's six-piston Akebono brakes, the newly-realized BST edition 270 will utilize four-piston Brembos, which shouldn't make too much of a difference, especially with its improved driving dynamics, which allow it to reach 62MPH in 4.4 seconds. The limited-edition Polestar 2 will ship in either a Snow or Thunder outer shell paint, with an interior Charcoal WeaveTech iteration. Potential buyers can even get an optional matte black body stripe if they like, in addition to a Battleship Gray satin wrap for the full EV.

Given its rather on-the-nose namesake, the BST edition 270 will, as one may guess, have 270 made, thus making it a true limited edition EV. It will also only ship in the selected regions of China, North America, and Europe, making it rather difficult to acquire, especially given its online registration form, which may well have already filled its 270 potential slots.

At a $75,000 premium, the BST edition 270 proves it's actually not a bad financial commitment, given the rather exorbitant price tags associated with the brand, as the Polestar 2 alone costs $50,000 at the base MSRP. Full production will begin in mid-2022, with shipments starting by Q4 later this year.

If the Polestar 2 BST edition 270 wasn't enough for avid car fans, Polestar stock itself may well soon be available for those interested in the market. At the end of its blog post, Polestar notes that it will be partnering up with Gores Guggenheim inc. in a business proposal that will see it listed on the Nasdaq. The deal is set to close, according to Polestar, by the first half of 2022.
