Last Friday, the Virginia men’s soccer team took down rival Virginia Tech 4-2. After going down a goal in the first half, the Cavaliers responded with four of their own in less than 13 minutes. First, Andreas Ueland knocked one in with just over 20 minutes to play off a cross from Leo Alfonso. Five minutes later Kome Ubogu put the Cavaliers ahead on a diving header. Seven minutes after that Philip Horton slotted home a penalty kick after being taken down in the box. Not even 30 seconds later, Leo Alfonso added a fourth for the Cavaliers to send Klöckner Stadium into a frenzy. Virginia Tech would score a late goal, but it was too little too late for the Hokies who remain winless on the season.

The Cavaliers win over the Hokies put them at 3-2 on the season before a 5-0 win against La Salle moved them to 4-2. The five goals came from Leo Afonso, Axel Ahlander, Aidan O’Connor, Kome Ubogu, and Triton Beauvois. Next up, Virginia hosts Notre Dame on Friday night before American comes to town on Tuesday. The following Saturday the Cavaliers will travel to Syracuse.

No. 12 Florida State closes out the five-game stretch.

This past week the Virginia field hockey team lost 3-2 against the No.1 team in the country, Northwestern. After conceding two goals in the first eighteen minutes, Laura Janssen pulled one back for the Cavaliers.
